Dear Friends,
It is that time of year again …. Spring Regional Council Meeting time yay!!!
Now that we have moved to two regional council meetings a year, this allows us to have more of a focus at each meeting that fits the time of year better.
The fall meeting is a time to look at financials and to do things like honour retirees, while the spring meeting lets us elect members to our different Commissions and Executive and this year a President-Elect, as well.
Because we can spread out the decision-making business throughout the year, it means we can use some time each meeting to work with our focus statement:
The work of WOWRC is not just decision-making, the work is also learning and growing together to better be able to support one another and the communities we serve. This meeting we will be looking at how Our Words Matter. We will have some time to reflect in different ways about the language we use.
The planning team decided that an online meeting was still the best option for us for this spring, but we are planning an in-person gathering sometime soon at one of our camps, so please keep looking out for more information about that.
And, start to think about how the words we use:
- connect us with others,
- help us to support each other,
- how language changes and transforms over time, and
- how we need to create space to see how the words we use impact those around us.
